Trakošćan is a castle, but also a castle-museum. Its name probably comes from "Drako-stein/Drachenstein" or "Dragon-stone".
Trakošćan preserved a lot of its original furniture and equipment.
You can combine visit to Trakoščan with treks on the Ravna Gora, a picturesque mountain in Zagorje, or visit to Bednja and its traditional village architecture.
