Battle of Samobor and medieval fair below the medieval castle of Samobor hapenned in 1441. in then Kaikavian kingdom of Slavonia. The recreated event is hosted by the city of Samobor.
The battle was between the forces of Ulrich of Celje and Vladislaus III of Varna. Urlich's forces were commanded by Ian Vitovec and he won. It has to be said that counts Celjski posessed the most area in the kingdom of Slavonia/Slovenje, and later Croatian nobility like Zrinski and Frankopani were not existent in Kaikavian state at that time. Yet with counts Celjski dying out, and pushed by Turkish conquest of Croatia which led to the loss of their territory, Croatian nobility fled to Kaikavian kingdom of Slovenje / Slavonia, where they were assigned new teritorry by the king in exchange for support and battling the Turks. This is how the croatization of Slavonia started, which will be called "Horvatska" firstly in 18th ct, but keeping its Kaikavian language.
The happening starts at 10 at Vugrinščak below medieval castle of Samobor. The museum of Samobor is als open, and the battle starts at 15:00.
